MG asked: I have paid down some balances already for some time but the changes are not appearing on my credit report. I’m not pulling up my credit however, I have alerts when my scores go up or down or if there’s inquiries etc. Do I have to ask them to report the change in balance? Why is it that when you rack up a ton of charges they report them really fast but when they’re paid off, they take forever? Is there a way to “speed up” the process?
I have paid them down but plan to keep the balances they have now (which are very low) instead of making more charges. Would writing to the credit card company make any difference?

in a bout 2 weeks
it takes awhile- about once a month, has to go through their system, which does everything automatically.
all the credi card card copmaines report to the three credit bureaus once a month. Just paying down balances in one month will not make a difference in your score unless your debt to income ratio makes a big change.
They’ll report negative info. in about two weeks. They’ll report positive info. in about 3 months unless you write to them and the credit borough.
bad credit stays forever good is slow as molasses..we had a credit card JCPENNEYS in 1991..we lived overseas our post office box changed three times and there was a dock workers strike…we got mail sporadically…we still have that damn blemish on our credit..it was paid off at the end of 91…the mail problems happened in march of that year..three months the bill was late..back then we couldn’t do online banking nor ATM…we bought a house 9 years ago..it was there..we both pulled our credit reports within the last four months..guess what its still there..it will be there till sometime in 2014 if we read the thing right..whats up with that..
yes, there is a way you can speed up the process. You can dispute the charges by contacting all three credit agency’s and request the forms for dispute or go to their websites and print it out. Care full on how you type the web site because they might not be the legit one you can go to
Once on the site click on dispute an item on your report, it will then take you to another page were you can either place the dispute on line, by phone or by mail. I use the form by mail before and the on line also. You can try which ever you feel more comfortable with.
